STB and Princess Cruises announce major multi-ship deployment from 2027 to 2030 to strengthen Singapore’s position as a leading cruise hub in Asia

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Princess Cruises have announced a new three-year partnership that will significantly expand the cruise line’s operations in Singapore from 2027 to 2030.

The collaboration is expected to bring more than 150,000 passengers to Singapore and generate strong economic benefits for the country’s tourism and maritime industries.

Under the agreement, Princess Cruises will deploy three ships — Diamond Princess, Sapphire Princess, and Grand Princess — in Singapore. The number of sailings from Singapore is expected to double by 2030.

Supported under STB’s Cruise Development Fund (CDF), the cruise line will offer longer itineraries ranging from 10 to 28 days. The voyages will include round-trip cruises to destinations in Southeast Asia such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, as well as longer journeys between Singapore and Japan.

Passengers will also be able to enjoy various shore excursions across the region. These include mangrove cruises in Langkawi, temple visits in Hoi An, and visits to the Fokuangshan Monastery in Kaohsiung.

The partnership comes amid rising demand for cruises in the Asia Pacific region, driven by growing middle-class populations, increasing affluence, and stronger interest in immersive travel experiences.

Singapore is expected to attract more international cruise travellers, especially from markets such as Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The expanded deployment is also expected to boost Singapore’s fly-cruise tourism segment, supported by the country’s strong air connectivity and modern cruise facilities.

The move will create more opportunities for visitors to extend their holidays with pre- and post-cruise stays in Singapore.

Ms Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of the Experience Development Group at STB, said the partnership highlights Singapore’s role as Asia’s leading cruise hub. She added that the expanded deployment supports Singapore’s Tourism 2040 vision by offering more premium and differentiated tourism experiences.

Mr Matthew Rutherford, Vice President Asia Pacific at Princess Cruises, said Singapore remains a key part of the company’s Asia Pacific growth strategy. He noted that there is increasing demand for longer and more immersive cruise experiences across Southeast Asia and beyond.
