
Australia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Robyn Mudie, met with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to reaffirm the strength of the bilateral relationship and discuss priorities ranging from the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership 2.0 to regional cooperation and Singapore’s upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship.
Australia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, H.E. Robyn Mudie, met with Singapore’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, on 8 July to reaffirm the enduring partnership between Australia and Singapore. The meeting underscored the close ties between the two countries, which continue to be built on mutual trust, longstanding cooperation and shared strategic interests.
Their discussions covered a broad range of bilateral, regional and global issues, reflecting the depth and breadth of engagement between the two nations. A key focus was the continued implementation of the Australia–Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership 2.0, which provides a framework for expanding collaboration across priority areas including defence, trade, innovation, education, the digital economy and sustainability.
The two sides also exchanged views on Singapore’s forthcoming ASEAN Chairmanship and the opportunities it presents to strengthen regional cooperation and address shared challenges. The discussion highlighted the importance of working together to support ASEAN centrality and promote peace, stability and resilience across the Indo-Pacific region amid an evolving global landscape.
Australia and Singapore have long enjoyed a strong and trusted bilateral relationship, underpinned by close people-to-people links, extensive economic cooperation and shared regional interests. Both countries remain committed to deepening collaboration in ways that contribute to regional prosperity and security while advancing common priorities through multilateral and bilateral platforms.
