Soon afterwards, colourful sea worms known as nyale appeared along the shoreline and are believed to represent her reincarnation. This enduring legend is commemorated each year during the Bau Nyale Festival, one of Lombok’s most distinctive cultural celebrations, attracting visitors from across Indonesia and around the world.
Beyond its famous racing circuit, Mandalika is home to some of Lombok’s most picturesque beaches, including Kuta Mandalika, Tanjung Aan, Seger Beach, Serenting Beach, and Mawi Beach. Visitors can also discover the traditional Sasak villages of Sade and Ende, where local communities continue to preserve centuries-old weaving traditions, distinctive architecture, music, and dance. Mandalika is easily accessible via Lombok International Airport, located approximately 25 kilometres away via the BIL–Mandalika Bypass. Travellers from Bali can also reach Mandalika by ferry to Lembar Port before continuing by road.
