Congratulatory Message from Her Excellency Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore
“On behalf of the Government and people of Malaysia, I am delighted to extend my warmest congratulations to the Government and people of Singapore on the occasion of Singapore’s 61st National Day.
Malaysia and Singapore have enjoyed close and longstanding relations. As neighbours, ASEAN partners and close friends, our relationship has grown from our shared history into a dynamic partnership built on mutual trust, understanding and strong people-to-people connections.
Our meaningful ties are reflected in the regular exchanges at all levels. At the Leaders’ level, the recent State Visit of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Malaysia signified the commitment to continue cultivating mutual understanding and appreciation between the people and governments of both countries. This year, Malaysia will also host the 13th Malaysia – Singapore Leaders’ Retreat, where Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to keep the momentum high for the efforts by both countries to strengthen cooperation across areas such as trade and investment, infrastructure, transport, healthcare and connectivity.
Beyond government-to-government relations, the connections between Malaysians and Singaporeans continue to bring our two countries closer. We share deep family, cultural, educational and business links, and these everyday connections are central to Malaysia – Singapore relations.
As Singapore celebrates its 61 years of independence, Malaysia looks forward to working closely with Singapore to further strengthen our bilateral partnership and further contribute to a peaceful, stable and prosperous ASEAN region.
Once again, I extend my warmest wishes to the Government and people of Singapore. May Singapore continue to prosper and reach new heights in the years ahead.
Happy 61st National Day, Singapore!”
