SMF and Guangzhou CCPIT signed MOU to expand trade, investment and industry ties.
The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) welcomed a delegation from the Guangzhou CCPIT (Guangzhou International Chamber of Commerce) in Singapore on 25 August 2026 for a business meeting focused on trade, investment, business networking and cooperation between Singapore and Guangzhou. The meeting was led by Mr Lennon Tan, President of SMF, and Mr Huang Xiaofeng, Deputy Director and Vice President of Guangzhou CCPIT.
Representatives from the Guangzhou International Chamber of Commerce and companies from manufacturing, exhibitions, smart energy, technology and other industries also participated in the meeting. The engagement provided an opportunity for representatives from both sides to exchange views on their respective business ecosystems and discuss potential areas of mutual interest.
A key development during the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SMF and Guangzhou CCPIT. The agreement was intended to support institutional ties and create opportunities for trade, investment, business networking and industry cooperation between Singapore and Guangzhou.
The meeting also enabled participants to explore potential connections between businesses operating in different sectors. Discussions covered opportunities for companies and business communities in both markets to establish networks and identify areas for future engagement.
Singapore’s position as a gateway to Southeast Asia and Guangzhou’s role as a commercial and manufacturing hub in China provide a basis for businesses from the two markets to connect and explore opportunities. The participation of companies from manufacturing, exhibitions, smart energy and technology also reflected the range of industries represented during the engagement.
The MOU signing followed discussions between SMF and Guangzhou CCPIT on their respective business environments and areas of mutual interest. The two organisations will use the institutional relationship as a basis for further business networking and engagement between their members and business communities.
The 25 August meeting was held as part of Guangzhou CCPIT’s engagement with Singapore’s manufacturing and business community, with the MOU providing a framework for future interaction between the two organisations.
