
Malaysia’s High Commissioner visits Shopee Singapore headquarters for Talent Connect programme event.
On 24 September 2026, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, H.E. Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, undertook a working visit to Shopee Singapore’s headquarters in conjunction with the Shopee Talent Connect Programme. The engagement provided an opportunity for the High Commissioner to interact with Malaysian students in Singapore and highlight the importance of international experience and professional development to Malaysia’s digital economy.

The Shopee Talent Connect Programme is an in-house talent development initiative designed to nurture young talent and provide career and internship opportunities through a management development programme. It is intended for students seeking opportunities to join Shopee or SEA Limited.

A total of 55 Malaysian students participated in the programme. The participants were pursuing various bachelor’s degree programmes in Singapore, particularly at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
During her keynote address, H.E. Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin encouraged the students to maintain their strong ties with Malaysia and continue to keep the country close to their hearts. She also highlighted the importance of developing professional capabilities through international exposure as Malaysia’s digital economy continues to expand.

The High Commissioner emphasised that Malaysia requires capable professionals with international experience to contribute to the country’s future development. She noted that the competencies students acquire during their studies and professional experiences would contribute to Malaysia’s economic competitiveness in the future.
The working visit also provided a platform for engagement between Malaysia’s diplomatic representation in Singapore and Malaysian students pursuing higher education in the country. Through the Shopee Talent Connect Programme, participants were introduced to career and internship opportunities within Shopee and SEA Limited while gaining exposure to a management development pathway.

The participation of 55 Malaysian students from Singapore-based universities highlighted the programme’s focus on young Malaysian talent and professional development. The engagement also underscored the value of maintaining connections with Malaysia while gaining academic and professional experience in Singapore.
