Established in 1980, AMKCMA is a non-governmental organisation supporting local enterprises and community initiatives in the Ang Mo Kio Town Centre. The engagement offered the delegation a practical perspective on how national economic policies and strategies can connect with businesses and communities at the local level.

During the visit, Mr. Lai Cheng Yi, Business Development Consultant and CEO of the Singapore Economics and Management Group of Companies, delivered a presentation on Singapore’s economic trajectory and outlook. He discussed policy choices and leadership approaches that have contributed to Singapore’s development as a globally competitive economy, including long-term policymaking, fiscal prudence, economic openness, investment in infrastructure and human capital, and responsiveness to changes in the global economy.

At the community level, AMKCMA supports merchants by helping them identify business opportunities, develop capabilities and upgrade skills. The Association also organises community activities, festive bazaars and initiatives that encourage residents to shop, dine and participate in the local town centre.

The delegation was also introduced to the diverse business ecosystem in Ang Mo Kio, which includes household names such as Uniqlo, myCK, Jack’s Place and Superpets alongside other local enterprises. The engagement highlighted how business associations can support collaboration, collective promotion and community participation.
