PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be on a working visit to the ASEAN-US Special Summit which starts from tomorrow till 14th May 2022. PM Lee and other ASEAN Leaders will meet with US President Joseph R. Biden Jr. They will be hosted to dinner by President Biden on 12 May and have a meeting with President Biden on 13 May. The Leaders will review the current comprehensive ASEAN-US Strategic Partnership and discuss ways to further strengthen ASEAN-US cooperation for the future. The ASEAN Leaders and President Biden will also exchange views on regional and global issues.

The ASEAN leaders will also be hosted to a working lunch by US Vice President Kamala D. Harris, and a lunch with the US Congressional Leaders hosted by US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. They will also participate in a meeting with Vice President Harris and a group of US Cabinet Secretaries, with discussions to be focused on climate action, clean energy transition and sustainable infrastructure.

The Summit aims build on the momentum from the 9th ASEAN-US Summit held virtually in October 2021 which President Biden attended.

PM Lee will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Communications and Information.
