Singapore’s Government appoints Mr. Ong Yew Huat, Non-Executive Independent Director of Singapore Power Ltd and Capitaland Group Pte Ltd, as Non-Resident High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea.
Singapore’s Government has announced the appointment of Mr Ong Yew Huat as the Non-Resident High Commissioner to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea. Mr Ong Yew Huat, who currently serves as the Non-Executive Independent Director of Singapore Power Ltd (SP) and Capitaland Group Pte Ltd (CLG), brings with him a wealth of experience in the corporate sector and public service.
As Chairman of the Audit Committee and member of the Nominating Committee of both SP and CLG, Mr Ong has demonstrated his ability to lead and manage complex organizations. He is also a Director of the Singapore Mediation Centre, which highlights his commitment to promoting dispute resolution through peaceful means.
Prior to this appointment, Mr Ong served as Director of United Overseas Bank Ltd and Chairman of United Overseas Bank Malaysia Bhd. He also held key positions such as Chairman of the National Heritage Board and Singapore Tyler Print Institute, and Board Member of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority.
Mr Ong graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Kent at Canterbury, United Kingdom. His contributions to public service have been recognized with the Public Service Medal in 2011 and the Public Service Star in 2017.
The appointment of Mr Ong Yew Huat as Non-Resident High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea is a positive step towards strengthening the relationship between Singapore and Papua New Guinea.
