The National Arts Council (NAC) and SMRT Trains Ltd. embark on a three-year partnership to enhance the daily commute experience for over 3 million Singaporean commuters by introducing local music, poetry, and busking to public spaces.

The National Arts Council (NAC) and SMRT Trains have signed a three-year partnership to enhance the daily commute for Singaporean travelers. This collaboration will introduce music, poetry, and busking to public spaces, beginning with the “I Play SG Music” campaign led by Hear65.

Hear65’s campaign aims to make locally produced music more accessible to over 3 million commuters using SMRT’s transit network. It draws inspiration from NAC’s 2021 Deep Dive Study of Singaporean Music Listeners, highlighting the positive impact of homegrown music. The campaign, developed in collaboration with local artists and music labels, offers diverse playlists tailored to different times of the day.

In addition to promoting local music, NAC and SMRT plan to feature poetry and prose within trains and provide accessible platforms for buskers with disabilities to showcase their talents at train stations.

Mr. Low Eng Teong, CEO of NAC, emphasized the importance of partnerships in fostering Singapore’s vibrant arts scene, inviting like-minded partners to join their efforts.

Mr. Lam Sheau Kai, President of SMRT Trains Ltd., highlighted the role of art and music in connecting communities and enriching the daily commute experience.
