The 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to take place in Goa from November 20th to 28th, featuring an array of acclaimed films, special awards, and engaging sessions with industry experts.

Union Minister Shri Anurag Thakur announced that the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held in Goa from November 20th to 28th, 2023. Emphasizing India’s thriving media and entertainment industry, Shri Thakur highlighted its remarkable growth over the past three years, with movies reaching global audiences.

This year’s Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award will be bestowed upon Mr. Michael Douglas, an icon of world cinema known for his significant contributions. The International Section of IFFI saw a substantial increase in submissions, showcasing the global film industry’s interest in the festival.

In response to the booming OTT industry in India, Shri Thakur introduced the Best Web Series Award, receiving 32 entries across 10 languages from 15 platforms. The winner will be awarded ten lakh rupees.

The Creative Minds of Tomorrow initiative, designed to support talent across the country, received over 600 entries this year. The event aims to nurture the burgeoning startup ecosystem in the film sector.

Inclusivity is a priority for this year’s IFFI, with all venues equipped for accessibility. Special provisions for the visually and hearing impaired, including audio descriptions and sign language, reflect the festival’s commitment to inclusiveness.

The International Jury, headed by acclaimed filmmaker Mr. Shekhar Kapur, will preside over the festival’s competitive sections. The festival will feature a diverse selection of films, including world premieres, international premieres, and award-winning selections.

Masterclasses and In-Conversation sessions with distinguished filmmakers, cinematographers, and actors will provide valuable insights for attendees. Additionally, the festival will introduce virtual access through the Book My Show App, making content accessible online.

The Film Bazaar, an integral part of IFFI, facilitates collaborations in the business of cinema. With an expanded scope, this year’s edition will host pavilions, stalls, and a VFX & Tech Pavilion to explore the latest innovations in filmmaking.

The festival’s cultural celebration, IFFI Cine-Mela, will offer attendees a diverse range of activities to complement the cinematic experience. Open-air screenings, caravans, and cultural showcases will enhance the festivities.

Branding and décor of festival venues, in collaboration with NID Ahmedabad, will provide a visually engaging environment for attendees. Celebrating the diverse cultures of India will be a special focus during the event.
