The festivities marking World Arabic Language Day were observed at the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Republic of Singapore on December 6, 2023.

The Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Singapore hosted a celebration in honor of World Arabic Language Day. Recognized by the United Nations as its sixth official language in 1973, Arabic holds cultural significance globally.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Singapore served as the venue for the festivities, featuring an Arabic tent and a costume booth where attendees, including diplomats, engaged in dressing up with traditional Arabic attire. The event aimed to promote cross-cultural understanding, allowing Singaporeans to experience firsthand the richness of Arabic culture.

Apart from cultural displays, the celebration also touched upon recent diplomatic developments. The ease of visa processes for Arab visitors to Singapore and the reciprocal opening of Saudi Arabia were highlighted, reflecting efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and encourage tourism.

Ms. Mashael Suliman J. AlShamari, First Secretary from the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Singapore, shared insights on the significance of the occasion, stating, “We celebrate World Arabic Language Day each December to showcase our culture and language. This event provides an opportunity for people to learn about Arabic traditions and explore Arabic-speaking countries, including Saudi Arabia.”

The inclusive nature of the celebration attracted a diverse audience and contributed to the promotion of cultural exchange between nations.
