The ASEAN Secretariat has called for nominations for this prestigious award that recognizes contributions to ASEAN Community building

ON 1st March 2024, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) launched the call for nominations for the ASEAN Prize 2024. Nominations are open from 1st March to 31st May 2024.

This is its seventh edition and the ASEAN Prize continues to recognize and honour individuals and/or organisations for their contributions to ASEAN Community building. The ASEAN Prize 2024 Recipient will receive a trophy and monetary prize of USD $20,000.

Eligible ASEAN individuals and organisations are invited to file their application by providing details on their achievements that fall under any of the following:

  • Outstanding collaboration between ASEAN Member States (AMSs);
  • Outstanding collaboration between ASEAN and the world;
  • Outstanding people-to-people engagement among AMSs;
  • Outstanding economic integration and promotion of standards between AMSs; or
  • Other outstanding contributions to ASEAN Community Building.

For example, to qualify as the Philippines’ candidate, the nominee must either be a Filipino citizen or an organisation created or led by the Philippines. The submission must be supported by one character reference attesting to the nominee’s suitability to receive the ASEAN Prize

The ASEAN Prize will not consider self-nominations and posthumous submissions.

Since its inception in 2018, the ASEAN Prize has been awarded to four individuals and two organizations. Last year, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, a regional champion for women’s economic advancement from Vietnam, was awarded the ASEAN Prize 2023 for being a key founder of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs’ Network (AWEN) which drove regional cooperation and integration in the business sector.
