Sri Lankan High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake met with representatives from Vision Manpower Pte. Ltd. a Singaporean recruitment partner, to discuss benefits and progress for Sri Lankan nurses working in Singapore’s healthcare sector

HIGH Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake of Sri Lanka recently engaged in a productive meeting with representatives from Vision Manpower Pte. Ltd., a Singaporean recruitment partner, on 5th March 2024. The meeting aimed to discuss matters related to the Sri Lankan healthcare workforce in Singapore.

During the meeting, Vision Manpower briefed the High Commission officials on the newly introduced benefits for Sri Lankan nurses working in Singapore’s skilled healthcare sector. The Singapore government provides comprehensive support, including both-way air tickets, free accommodation, and a relocation allowance of SGD 1000 for each candidate. These benefits are designed to ensure the well-being and success of foreign healthcare professionals.

Vision Manpower also highlighted the dedicated engagement of Mr. Nipuna Thibbutumunuwa, the Counsellor (Employment & Labor Welfare) of the High Commission, in the initial stages of the recruitment project. His involvement has contributed to the smooth progress of the recruitment process.

The ongoing collaboration between Sri Lanka and Singapore has been fruitful, resulting in the deployment of approximately 420 nurses in Singaporean public hospitals. Furthermore, 81 new nurses are scheduled to arrive in Singapore on 15th March 2024, marking the largest batch of Sri Lankan nurses to be deployed to Singapore simultaneously and indicating a strong partnership between the two countries.

High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake commended Vision Manpower, the first Singaporean recruitment partner for Sri Lankan healthcare professionals, for their exceptional service. He expressed his best wishes for their future recruitment endeavors. Counsellor Mr. Nipuna Thibbutumunuwa, instrumental in initiating the project of deploying Sri Lankan healthcare professionals, was also present at the meeting.
