The High Commissioner discusses fintech collaboration opportunities with the Singapore Fintech Association
THE High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore H.E. Senarath Dissanayake, visited the Singapore Fintech Association and met with Mr. Shadab Taiyabi, the President of the association, on 25th March 2024. During the meeting, the High Commissioner highlighted Sri Lanka’s fintech ecosystem and mentioned the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2019 between the two countries’ fintech associations. He emphasized the potential for collaboration between Singapore Fintech companies and Sri Lanka, particularly in leveraging Sri Lanka’s talented IT workforce.
In response, Mr. Taiyabi expressed the Singapore Fintech Association’s willingness to organize a webinar in collaboration with the High Commission. The webinar aims to raise awareness among its members about Sri Lanka’s fintech ecosystem and the capabilities of Sri Lankan fintech companies. The webinar is expected to feature government officials and representatives from the Sri Lanka Fintech Association.
The High Commission is currently coordinating the webinar, with a date to be mutually agreed upon. Mr. Reuben Lim, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Shakeel Rashid, Head of Partnerships and Communications of the Singapore Fintech Association, and Mr. Yasantha Yaddehi, Minister (Commercial) of the High Commission, were also present at the meeting.
