The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) delegation visited Sri Lanka to study agricultural markets and discuss new areas of cooperation, enhancing food security and trade relations.

A three-member delegation from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) visited Sri Lanka from March 24 to 28, 2024, following discussions with the High Commission of Sri Lanka. The visit aimed to study Sri Lanka’s agricultural product market, focusing on poultry, rice, and vegetables.

During their visit, the SFA delegation held discussions with officials from the Export Development Board and the Department of Animal Production and Health. They also toured poultry, rice, fruit and vegetable, and fish processing units in Sri Lanka.

The delegation explored new areas of cooperation in the food sector, including connecting Sri Lankan fruit and vegetable exporters with import companies in Singapore. The SFA plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe food supply for Singapore and partners with food businesses to enhance capabilities, utilize technologies for productivity, conduct research for new business lines, and drive industry transformation for food security.

This visit is expected to facilitate the seamless connection of Sri Lankan agricultural producers to the Singapore market, strengthening food security and trade relations between the two countries.
