The Chamber of Marine Industries of Sri Lanka (CMISL) and the Singapore Boating Industry Association (SBIA) joined forces by signing an MOU to enhance collaboration in promoting the boating industry.
The Chamber of Marine Industries of Sri Lanka (CMISL) took a significant step on 22nd April 2024, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Boating Industry Association (SBIA). The agreement, aimed to strengthen the promotion of boating and yachting industries, emerged from initial negotiations facilitated by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore.
Mr. Indhra Kaushal Rajapaksa, Chairman of the Marine Industries Chamber of Sri Lanka & Vice President of Sri Lanka Singapore Business Council, and Mr. Y.P. Loke, Chairman of the Singapore Boating Industry Association, signed the agreement. The signing ceremony, held in the presence of High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore H.E. Senarath Dissanayake, Chairman of One 15 Marina Mr. Arthur Tay, President of the International Council of Marine Industry (ICOMIA) , Mr. Darren Vaux, and Minister (Commercial) of the High Commission of Sri Lanka Mr. Yasantha Yaddehi, marked a milestone in bilateral cooperation.
The MOU signifies the beginning of collaborative efforts between CMISL and SBIA towards mutually beneficial endeavours in the boating sector. Both parties expressed optimism regarding the potential for positive relations and increased cooperation, fostering growth and prosperity in the industry.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Singapore praised the collaboration between CMISL and SBIA, emphasising its role in creating a dynamic and conducive environment for business growth on both sides. The partnership is poised to drive progress in the boating industry while enhancing economic ties between Sri Lanka and Singapore.
