H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh and Ms. Foo Chi Hsia discuss enhancing cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, focusing on the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
ON 26 April 2024, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, paid an introductory call on Ms. Foo Chi Hsia, Deputy Secretary (Southeast Asia and ASEAN) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, marking the beginning of their official engagements. The meeting emphasized the close and longstanding relations between the two countries, highlighting the mutual desire to further strengthen these ties. Both sides expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially through the exchange of high-level visits in 2025 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Thailand – Singapore diplomatic relations.
The discussions also covered important areas of cooperation, including development cooperation and technical assistance provided to third countries. They exchanged views on the exchange of best practices between Thailand and Singapore, recognizing the value of sharing knowledge and experiences. Another significant topic was Thailand’s bid for membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which was discussed in the context of enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.
