The 21st edition of the National Heritage Board’s signature festival, Singapore HeritageFest 2024, returns from May 1 to 26, featuring over 120 programs that highlight the rich history and cultural diversity behind Singapore’s buildings, sites, and structures.

SINGAPORE, April 30, 2024 – The 21st edition of Singapore HeritageFest (SHF) is set to captivate audiences from May 1 to 26, showcasing over 120 programs that delve into the fascinating stories and living heritage embedded within Singapore’s architectural marvels. Presented by the National Heritage Board (NHB), this year’s festival focuses on celebrating Singapore’s built heritage and coincides with the 35th year of Singapore’s conservation program. From offshore tours to kelongs and kampongs to eerie encounters with the spookier facets of Singapore’s heritage, SHF 2024 promises an enriching experience for all attendees.

Singapore’s rich built heritage boasts 75 National Monuments, over 7,000 conserved buildings and structures, and numerous historical landmarks. Through workshops, tours, exhibitions, and various activities across the island, festival-goers will have the opportunity to explore the stories behind these architectural wonders, each imbued with the unique culture and heritage of Singapore’s communities.

David Chew, SHF Festival Director, emphasizes the significance of Singapore’s built heritage, stating, “They hold the stories and experiences of diverse communities past and present, and it is the people and their stories that bring these spaces to life.” With the participation of over 80 community partners, SHF 2024 aims to inspire Singaporeans to cherish and safeguard their heritage.

Highlights of the festival include new programs such as the Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus Experience, Island Boat Tour + Kelong Visit, and Kampong Gelam Photo Walk. Additionally, SHF celebrates Singapore’s maritime heritage with tours organized by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, offering insights into the industry’s rich history and global significance.

As part of NHB’s Our SG Heritage Plan 2.0, SHF 2024 introduces pilot offerings to gauge public interest, including (Her)story of Samsui Women and Haunted History: Armenian Street – Fort Canning.

The festival’s diverse lineup caters to various interests, from educational institution tours to military-themed activities and spooky heritage tours. SHF 2024 also features Homeground installations, Ride & Discover panels, and Cinema Reclaimed screenings, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
