Sun Media Singapore Editor-in-Chief calls on the Korean Ambassador to Singapore to welcome him to Singapore.

Singapore, May 13, 2024 – In a meeting with Sun Media Singapore Editor-in-Chief, Ms. Nomita Dhar, the Korean Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Hong Jin-Wook, expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations. The Ambassador highlighted the robust economic relationship between Korea and Singapore, with Korea being one of Singapore’s key trading partners. He emphasized the potential for further growth and cooperation in areas such as technology, innovation, and infrastructure development. 

“People-to-people ties are also crucial,” the Ambassador said, noting the popularity of Korean culture, particularly K-pop and drama, among Singaporeans. He expressed his desire to increase cultural exchanges, tourism, and educational collaborations. The Ambassador identified key areas for enhancement, including trade and investment, defense and security cooperation, education and cultural exchange, and tourism and people-to-people connections. He stressed the importance of regular high-level exchanges and official visits to further enhance the relationship. 

The meeting was seen as a positive step towards deepening the bond between Korea and Singapore. Ms. Dhar expressed support for the Ambassador’s initiatives, stating, “We look forward to continued collaboration and strengthening of ties between our nations”
