21st Shangri-La Dialogue.

Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Dr. Ng Eng Hen discuss strengthening bilateral defense relations and regional cooperation.

Malaysian Minister of Defence Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is in Singapore to attend the 21st Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) and the 12th Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) Defence Ministers’ Meeting. This afternoon, he met with Minister for Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen at the Shangri-La Hotel.

During the meeting, both ministers reaffirmed the warm and long-standing bilateral defense relations between Singapore and Malaysia. They discussed cooperation within regional multilateral platforms such as the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), ADMM-Plus, and the FPDA. They emphasized their commitment to enhancing mutual trust and understanding between the defense establishments of both nations.

Singapore and Malaysia’s defense establishments engage regularly through various activities, including bilateral and multilateral exercises, visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses. Dr. Ng and Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin last met at the 18th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference in Malaysia on May 6, 2024, and on the sidelines of the 60th Munich Security Conference in Germany on February 17, 2024. These interactions highlight the strong defense relationship and deepen mutual understanding and trust.

Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is accompanied by a delegation of senior Malaysian officials. During his visit, he will also call on Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.
