The Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces to promote 1,206 personnel, recognizing their contributions and potential.
The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) are set to promote 1,206 personnel this year. This includes 805 uniformed members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Digital and Intelligence Service, and MINDEF Headquarters, as well as 401 Defence Executive Officers (DXOs) and civilians. These promotions encompass both Regulars and Operationally Ready National Servicemen.
Promotion ceremonies were held at MINDEF today, where Minister for Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen awarded certificates to those ascending to higher ranks, including Major-General (MG), Brigadier-General (BG), Rear Admiral (RADM) (One-Star), Colonel (COL), Military Expert 7 (ME7), Chief Warrant Officer (CWO), and Senior Warrant Officer (SWO). Certificates were also presented to individuals reaching Defence Executive (DX) 16 and equivalent grades under the DXO and Civilian schemes. Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral (VADM) Aaron Beng also handed out certificates to personnel advancing to Senior Lieutenant Colonel (SLTC), Lieutenant Colonel (LTC), Military Expert 6 (ME6), and Master Warrant Officer (MWO). The ceremonies were attended by the promoting personnel’s spouses, guests, senior MINDEF officials, and SAF officers.
Among the promotees, Chief of Air Force BG Kelvin Fan will be advancing to the rank of MG, while six COLs will be promoted to BG and RADM (One-Star). Additionally, four SWOs will achieve the pinnacle rank of CWO this year.
A separate ceremony was held yesterday for the promotion of DXOs and civilian personnel within MINDEF/SAF.
The annual promotion exercise is part of MINDEF and SAF’s ongoing efforts to recognize, reward, and develop officers, military experts, warrant officers, DXOs, and civilians who have performed exceptionally and shown the potential to further contribute to the organization. All promotions will be effective from July 1, 2024.
