Singapore, 31 August 2024 – The High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore hosted a flag hoisting ceremony to commemorate Malaysia’s 67th National Day and 61st Malaysia Day. The event was held at the High Commission’s premises and was attended by members of the Malaysian community and local dignitaries. His Excellency Dato’ Indera Dr. Azfar bin Mohamad Mustafar, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, delivered a keynote address celebrating Malaysia’s independence and unity.
The theme for this year’s celebrations, “Madani Malaysia: Jiwa Merdeka,” underscores the nation’s commitment to fostering freedom and unity. The High Commissioner emphasized Civil Malaysia: Free Soul as the backbone of Malaysia’s progress, reflecting the nation’s core values of harmony, social integration, and economic development. This theme is intended to inspire Malaysians to embrace their national identity while contributing to a cohesive and prosperous society.
In his address, H.E. Dato’ Indera Dr. Azfar bin Mohamad Mustafar also called for continued efforts to maintain peace, safety, and prosperity in Malaysia. He likened the nation’s resilience and unity to the steadfastness of Mount Tahan, symbolizing the strength and harmony of a multi-racial society working together towards a common goal. The ceremony concluded with a collective prayer for Malaysia’s ongoing success and well-being.
