Saudi Minister Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef meets with Singaporean leaders to discuss enhancing cooperation in sustainable economic growth, SME development, and advanced manufacturing technology.
Singapore, 3 September 2024 – Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef, held high-level meetings with the heads of leading Singaporean institutions to discuss avenues for cooperation in various sectors. The discussions, held during Alkhorayef’s official visit to Singapore as part of a broader economic tour of East Asia, focused on leveraging Singapore’s expertise in creating sustainable economic growth, developing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and advancing manufacturing technologies.
Accompanying Minister Alkhorayef were Dr. Abdullah Ali Alahmari, Assistant Minister for Planning and Development at the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Eng. Saleh Al-Sulami, Chief Executive of the National Industrial Development Center (NIDC), and Majed Rafed Al-Argoubi, Chief Executive of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones.
During a key meeting with Png Cheong Boon, Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), Minister Alkhorayef explored opportunities for enhanced collaboration and partnership, seeking to benefit from EDB’s extensive experience in economic development. Another significant discussion took place with Lee Chuan Teck, Executive Chairman of Enterprise Singapore, where the focus was on cooperation in capacity building, innovation, and the transformation of industries.
Alkhorayef also met with the head of Meinhardt Group’s fourth industrial revolution division, discussing how modern technologies could be harnessed to boost efficiency and innovation within Saudi Arabia’s industrial sector. Additionally, the minister engaged with the Chief Executive of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (ASTAR) to explore collaborative efforts in science and technology, recognizing ASTAR’s global reputation for innovation.
These meetings underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Singapore and attracting high-quality investments into the kingdom’s industrial sector, aiming to foster mutual growth and cooperation.
