Jakarta, 10 September 2024 – Inaugural ASEAN Think Tanks Summit (ATTS) convened at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, bringing together more than 50 scholars, research experts, and academics from across the region. Organized by the ASEAN Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS) Network, with support from the ASEAN Secretariat and the GIZ of the German Federal Foreign Office, the two-day event aims to foster discussions on current geopolitical and economic issues affecting ASEAN.
The event was officially opened by the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, who delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of collaborative research and informed policy recommendations to tackle the challenges facing the region. Throughout the summit, participants engaged in discussions, sharing insights and strategies to address these pressing issues, particularly in the context of ASEAN’s evolving role on the global stage.
