Ambassadors from Denmark, Portugal, and Equatorial Guinea presented their credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in separate ceremonies at the Istana on 17 September 2024.

ON 17 September 2024, three foreign Heads of Mission presented their credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana in separate ceremonies. The newly appointed ambassadors are His Excellency Jakob Brix Tange, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark; His Excellency Carlos Alberto Raheb Lopes Pires, Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic; and His Excellency Mauricio Mauro Epkua Obama, Ambassador of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

HIS EXCELLENCY JAKOB BRIX TANGE
AMBASSADOR OF THE KINGDOM OF DENMARK TO SINGAPORE

Ambassador Jakob Brix Tange of Denmark is a seasoned foreign service officer, having held various key positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. His diplomatic career includes roles such as Ambassador to Afghanistan, Special Representative for Maritime Security, and Head of Department. Ambassador Tange holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen and has one daughter.

HIS EXCELLENCY CARLOS ALBERTO RAHEB LOPES PIRES
AMBASSADOR OF PORTUGUESE REPUBLIC TO SINGAPORE

Ambassador Carlos Alberto Raheb Lopes Pires of Portugal is a career diplomat with experience in multiple global postings, including Cairo, Paris, and São Tomé. He previously served as Deputy Minister of National Defence and holds a Degree in International Relations from Lisbon Technical University and a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the London School of Economics. Ambassador Pires is married and has two daughters.

HIS EXCELLENCY MAURICIO MAURO EPKUA OBAMA
AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF EQUATORIAL GUINEA TO SINGAPORE

Ambassador Mauricio Mauro Epkua Obama of Equatorial Guinea has a long history in foreign service, having served in China, Ghana, and other diplomatic missions across Europe and Africa. He holds a degree in International Relations from Fudan University in China and is fluent in Mandarin, English, French, and Spanish. Ambassador Obama is married and brings extensive international experience to his role in Singapore.
