SINGAPORE, 20 September 2024 – Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong hosted Rwanda President Paul Kagame at the Istana during an official visit to Singapore. The meeting underscored the strong relationship between the two nations, despite their geographical distance, with both leaders focusing on enhancing cooperation in key sectors.
Prime Minister Wong highlighted that Rwanda and Singapore, while far apart, share many similarities as small nations with limited resources. Both countries have developed strong ties, particularly on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and the Forum of Small States, where they collaborate on common interests.
During their discussions, Prime Minister Wong and President Kagame explored new opportunities for partnership in areas like digitalisation, Fintech, and sustainable development. The leaders expressed optimism about deepening ties and leveraging each nation’s expertise in these fields to foster innovation and economic growth.
