Filipino talent takes the spotlight as the Philippine Pavilion showcases innovation and creativity at Southeast Asia’s premier gaming event, Gamescom Asia 2024.

SINGAPORE, 22 October 2024 – The Philippine Pavilion stood out at Gamescom Asia 2024, which took place from 17 to 20 October 2024 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Organised by the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP) in collaboration with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Singapore, the Pavilion highlighted the Philippines’ growing role in the global gaming industry.

The Pavilion was officially inaugurated on 18 October 2024, with the opening ceremony graced by Mr. Alvin Tan, Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry; and Culture, Community, and Youth. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo Macaraig participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, signalling the Philippines’ commitment to international collaboration and the global showcase of Filipino creativity.

Under the theme, “Catalyzing the Future of Filipino Game Development”, the Pavilion featured leading Philippine game development companies, including Animation Vertigo Asia, Buko Studios Inc., Dreamlords Digital, Exodia Game Development Outsourcing, Monstronauts, Neun Farben Corporation, Puppeteer Studios, Synergy 88, and Taktyl Studios Inc. Visitors were treated not only to innovations in gaming but also to a taste of Filipino culture through locally-made snacks like Kangkong King and Boy Bawang, courtesy of Prime Foods Marketing.

Building on the momentum from Gamescom Cologne 2023, this year’s participation underscored the Philippines’ rise as a hub for game development. Supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and aligned with the Malikhaing Pinoy Program (MPP), the initiative aims to enhance market access and foster innovation within the country’s creative sectors. The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) also backed the effort, reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a key player in the global gaming industry.

Gamescom Asia 2024 is Southeast Asia’s leading platform for the gaming and interactive entertainment industries, bringing together developers, publishers, and professionals from around the world to explore new opportunities and ideas.
