OneRepublic’s new video showcases Singapore’s unique blend of heritage and modernity, capturing the band’s creative journey in the city-state.

Singapore, 25 October 2024 – Internationally renowned pop-rock band OneRepublic, in collaboration with Universal Music Singapore (UMSG) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), has released an exclusive behind-the-scenes video exploring the inspiration behind their track, ‘Singapore.’ The video, created in partnership with UMSG, a division of Universal Music Group (UMG), and STB, captures OneRepublic’s lead singer Ryan Tedder and keyboardist Brian Willett as they explore the eclectic blend of historical and contemporary architecture that defines Singapore’s skyline.

Filmed during their visit to the recent Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2024, the video reveals the creative journey behind ‘Singapore.’ OneRepublic’s frontman Ryan Tedder describes how Singapore’s “colourful juxtaposition of the modern and heritage buildings” inspired the song’s ethereal feel. Featuring scenes from landmarks such as Marina One, Peranakan Museum, Armenian Street, and the Old Hill Street Police Station, the video provides a fresh perspective on how the city’s vibrant culture and distinct architecture influenced the song.

Brian Willett, OneRepublic’s primary songwriter for ‘Singapore,’ shared, “This track feels like an external portrayal of creativity.” Alice Kent, country head for Universal Music Singapore, expressed pride in the collaboration, saying, “Universal Music Singapore is thrilled to be part of this inspiring project that celebrates creativity and Singapore with one of the world’s biggest bands.”

The video is available on OneRepublic, UMSG, and STB’s social media channels, and the track ‘Singapore’ is featured on the album ‘Artificial Paradise’ on all major music platforms. An official visualizer for the track, filmed entirely in Singapore, will soon follow. Commenting on the track, Tedder said, “The first time I heard ‘Singapore’ fully mixed, I could visualize the city’s skyline emerging from the ocean, blending creativity and urban life.”

Choo Huei Miin, Executive Director, Brand, at Singapore Tourism Board, expressed her enthusiasm for the project: “The ‘Singapore’ track beautifully pays homage to our city’s essence – a harmonious blend of heritage and modernity. Inspired by the creativity and ingenuity of the track, we invite listeners worldwide to immerse in the journey through the vibrant and eclectic tapestry Singapore offers.”
