The Philippine Coast Guard delegation, led by Commodore Joel M. Simo-ag, engaged with Singaporean counterparts to strengthen maritime cooperation and discuss shared security goals.

25 October 2024, Singapore – Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig and Colonel Egberto O. Dacoscos, PA (GSC), Defense and Armed Forces Attaché, warmly welcomed a delegation from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in a courtesy call on 24 October 2024 at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore. The delegation, led by Commodore Joel M. Simo-ag, PN, visited Singapore from 20 to 25 October 2024 as part of the Coast Guard Officer Senior Executive Course (CGOSEC) Class 03-2024 Foreign Academic Travel.

The delegation’s agenda included strategic discussions with Singaporean officials focused on maritime security, humanitarian assistance, and operational best practices. These engagements provided a platform for both countries to exchange insights and explore collaborative approaches to maritime challenges in Southeast Asia. The timing of this visit, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Singapore, underscored both nations’ commitment to enhancing regional maritime stability and security.

The CGOSEC program aims to build leadership skills among PCG officers and equip them with strategic perspectives on regional security. By participating in this program, PCG officials continue to strengthen cross-border cooperation in maritime safety, benefiting both nations as they address shared maritime interests and concerns.
