On Saturday, 18 January 2025, photography enthusiasts will have a unique opportunity to enhance their craft at Chris Yap’s masterclass, “From Sight to Insight”, held at the Gallery Theatre, Basement 1, National Museum of Singapore, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Tickets for the session are priced at $110 each.
Chris Yap, a renowned fine art photographer and master printmaker, will guide participants on how to move beyond technical skills to embrace a profound understanding of nature’s beauty through visual storytelling. This interactive session promises a blend of inspiration, technique, and dialogue designed for those with prior photography experience.
The masterclass begins with a walkthrough of Amazônia, a powerful exhibition by Sebastião Salgado. Chris will highlight the evocative qualities of Salgado’s imagery, focusing on the themes of “seeing” and “feeling.” Participants will gain insight into critical aspects such as lighting, texture, composition, and capturing emotions. The session will also include image discussions and an opportunity for participants to engage in a critique session.
Participant Requirements:
- Prior experience in photography and familiarity with critique formats.
- Submission of a portfolio (5–8 colour/monochrome nature images) before the session.
