President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame reflected on Rwanda’s achievements in 2024 and encouraged citizens to strive for greater success in the coming year
On the evening of 30th December 2024, President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame hosted thousands of Rwandans at the Kigali Convention Centre for the annual end-of-year celebration. The event brought together government officials, entrepreneurs, artists, young people, and members of the diplomatic community in a night of reflection and hope for the future.
During his address, President Kagame emphasised that 2024 had been a year of notable progress for Rwanda, marked by the 30th commemoration of the Genocide Against the Tutsi, the celebration of transformative milestones, and the successful presidential elections held in July. He underscored Rwanda’s commitment to security and warned against any attempts to destabilise the country, stating that such efforts would be futile.
The President also highlighted the recent eradication of a deadly virus that had posed significant challenges to the nation over the past three months. He expressed gratitude to healthcare workers and volunteers for their unwavering dedication, acknowledging their sacrifices in combating the outbreak and ensuring the safety of Rwandans.
Looking ahead, President Kagame encouraged Rwandans to build on the achievements of 2024 and work towards even greater success in 2025. He wished the nation a prosperous New Year, urging everyone to remain resilient and united in overcoming challenges.
The celebration served as a reminder of Rwanda’s progress and its collective strength in facing adversity, leaving attendees inspired for the year to come.
