Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong announced the distribution of $300 in CDC Vouchers to help households manage daily expenses amidst cost-of-living concerns.

Singapore, 3 January 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong officially launched the second tranche of the CDC Vouchers Scheme 2025 at an event in Marine Parade today. As part of the government’s ongoing efforts to assist households with cost-of-living challenges, $300 in digital vouchers will be distributed to Singaporean households.

This marks the continuation of a program that distributed $800 in vouchers in 2024, with $500 issued in January and $300 in June. The CDC Vouchers initiative is a key element of the Assurance Package, aimed at easing financial pressures on Singaporeans.

Addressing Inflation and Household Support

Mr. Gan highlighted that while inflation has moderated recently—dropping from over 4% in 2023 to an estimated 2.5-3% in 2024—the government recognizes that daily expenses remain a concern. Measures such as the Assurance Package, U-Save, and Service and Conservancy Charges rebates were implemented to provide relief.

“Even though prices may not be rising as fast, we understand that Singaporeans remain concerned about cost of living,” said Mr. Gan. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking additional steps to support households if necessary.

Digital Accessibility and Community Participation

The vouchers, which transitioned to a fully digital format in 2021, can be accessed in minutes through a secure government portal. For those unfamiliar with the digital process, assistance is available at Community Centres.

Participating merchants include hawkers, heartland businesses, and supermarkets. Notably, private coffeeshops have joined the program, offering budget meals that allow residents to stretch their vouchers further. Approximately 600 coffeeshop stalls now provide affordable options for voucher users.

A Spirit of Collaboration

DPM Gan also praised the collaboration between government, community organizations, and private sector stakeholders. “The positive impact of the CDC Vouchers scheme is a good showcase of what we can achieve by having the public and private sectors working together,” he said.

As Singapore celebrates its 60th year of independence, Mr. Gan encouraged continued partnerships to address future challenges.
