Prime Minister Wong will visit Malaysia on 6-7 January 2025 for bilateral discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation and connectivity between the two nations.
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will embark on an official visit to Putrajaya, Malaysia, from 6 to 7 January 2025 to participate in the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat. Hosted by Malaysia’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the annual retreat serves as a cornerstone for fostering bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting provides an opportunity for both leaders to set strategic directions, explore new avenues for enhancing connectivity, and address shared challenges, reinforcing the strong interdependency and collaborative spirit that underpin Singapore-Malaysia relations.
On 6 January, Prime Minister Anwar will host a formal dinner for Prime Minister Wong and his delegation. The ministers accompanying Prime Minister Wong will also engage with their Malaysian counterparts to discuss sectoral cooperation. The following day, on 7 January, Prime Minister Wong will be welcomed with an official ceremony before participating in a delegation meeting with Prime Minister Anwar. The leaders will jointly witness the exchange of several bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), signaling continued collaboration across diverse sectors.
Prime Minister Wong will be accompanied by Mrs Wong and several key cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for National Development Desmond Lee, Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat, and Senior Minister of State Sim Ann.
During Prime Minister Wong’s visit, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat will assume the role of Acting Prime Minister in Singapore.
