Singapore and Saudi Arabia solidify their bilateral relations through the establishment of a Strategic Partnership, aiming to deepen collaboration across diverse sectors and strengthen people-to-people ties.
Singapore hosted a significant meeting on 15 January 2025, where Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Maliki Osman, and Saudi Foreign Minister His Highness Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud met to further the newly established Saudi-Singapore Strategic Partnership. This milestone initiative aims to enhance bilateral relations, improve connectivity, and facilitate collaboration across various sectors, from economic cooperation to education and religious affairs.

Dr. Maliki Osman expressed his optimism about the partnership, highlighting its potential to foster deeper people-to-people ties. “Our Strategic Partnership with Saudi Arabia marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in bilateral relations. We hope it will drive collaboration and improve connectivity between our nations,” he noted.
The partnership also extends to supporting Singaporean Muslims. Dr. Osman thanked Saudi Arabia for their ongoing commitment to facilitating the Haj for Singaporean pilgrims, including robust preparations for the 2025 Haj season. He expressed hope that more Singaporean Muslims would have the opportunity to perform this pilgrimage in the coming years.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has pledged support for the Singapore College of Islamic Studies, set to welcome its first cohort of 60 students in 2028. Professor Sano Kutub, a key figure in the development of the college’s Islamic studies programme, will provide guidance and expertise.
The meeting underscored the deepening ties between the two nations, with Dr. Osman reiterating his commitment to working closely with Prince Faisal and his team to advance shared goals.
