On January 23, 2025, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the Socio-Cultural Community, San Lwin, participated in a high-level panel discussion during the 18th Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. The discussion centered on the contributions of intergovernmental and international organizations in fostering regional cooperation for disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.

In his remarks, DSG San Lwin underscored the critical role of regional organizations like ASEAN in enhancing resilience across Member States. He highlighted ASEAN’s experience in fostering closer collaboration and coordination to address disaster risks and climate challenges. San Lwin reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that drive sustainable and inclusive approaches to disaster management and resilience-building in the region.

The RCC meeting served as a platform for regional stakeholders to exchange insights and strategies, aiming to advance collective efforts in disaster preparedness and response across Asia.
