President Kagame Leads Commemoration at Heroes National Mausoleum
On 1st February 2025, President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame honoured Rwanda’s national heroes by laying a wreath at the Heroes National Mausoleum. The ceremony included a moment of silence to pay tribute to individuals recognised for their extraordinary contributions to the nation.

The mausoleum commemorates heroes in three categories: Imanzi, representing those who made the ultimate sacrifice for Rwanda; Imena, honouring individuals for exceptional acts of bravery and dedication; and Ingenzi, celebrating those who have made significant contributions to the country’s development.
President Kagame highlighted the importance of upholding the values of unity, truth, and justice, which continue to shape Rwanda’s progress. He called on all Rwandans, both young and old, to embrace courage and integrity in facing challenges and building a resilient nation.

National Heroes Day, marked annually on 1st February, serves as a reminder of Rwanda’s journey and the enduring spirit of those who contributed to its transformation. The event reinforces the nation’s commitment to honouring its past while striving towards a stronger and united future.
