The High Commissioner of India to Singapore attended the 14th Reunion Reception of the DMET MERI Alumni (Singapore), an Alma-mater of the ex-Cadets (Ex-Students) from India’s most premier Marine Engineering Training Institute in India. The event, held in Singapore, brought together distinguished maritime professionals with extensive experience and academic background in the field.

During his address, the High Commissioner spoke about India’s latest budget announcements and ongoing legislative policy reforms in the maritime sector. He outlined the government’s commitment to transforming the sector through innovation, infrastructure development, and sustainable practices.

He emphasised the significance of the Maritime India Vision 2030, a strategic initiative aiming to develop world-class port infrastructure, improve cargo handling efficiency, and create a global maritime leadership role for India.

Recognising the alumni’s rich expertise and deep understanding of the maritime domain, the High Commissioner encouraged them to play a meaningful role in advancing this vision. He expressed confidence that their insights and global experience could contribute to strengthening India’s position in the global maritime landscape.
