The Malay Heritage Centre invites everyone to a rich cultural celebration this Hari Raya at the Indian Heritage Centre, featuring vibrant performances, workshops, and exhibitions inspired by the Nusantara region.
This Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Malay Heritage Centre (MHC) warmly welcomes all to explore the richness of Malay culture and heritage at the Teroka Raya Festival 2025. Taking place on Saturday, 26 April 2025, from 10.00am to 6.30pm, the festival will be held at the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC), located at 5 Campbell Lane, Singapore 209924. Admission is free, with select workshops ticketed.
Organised as part of MHC’s ongoing Teroka Raya campaign, the festival aims to unpack and showcase the beauty of traditional customs, crafts, and cuisine from the Malay world, with a focus on the shared heritage across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and beyond.
A key highlight of the festival is the Fitri Fiesta: Culture Bazaar, where booths and interactive stations will offer hands-on cultural activities and demonstrations. Visitors can also enjoy a Hari Raya Pop-up Exhibition and performances of Dikir Barat and traditional dances by groups such as Azpirasi, Lembayu Sari, ITE College Central’s Tra’Irat, and NUS Dikir Barat. A Tea-Time Giveaway featuring popular snacks from the Little India precinct will be available from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.
Families can look forward to Tales from the Nusantara, a storytelling session about Admiral Hang Nadim’s adventures, while aspiring artists and fashion enthusiasts can join workshops such as Syawal Swirls: Henna Party and Mari Berkain: Malay Fabric and Styling Workshop. These sessions explore traditional artistry, cultural symbolism, and contemporary applications of heritage crafts.
For added fun, visitors who participate in drop-in activities can collect stamps to redeem exclusive Teroka Raya 2025 limited edition money packets.
With support from regional community partners such as the Forum Komunikasi Masyarakat Indonesia di Singapura (FKMIS), IMYouth (Indian-Muslim Youth), and the Malaysian Association in Singapore (MASIS), this immersive experience brings communities together to celebrate and appreciate shared traditions during the festive season.
