The 13th International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) will take place in Singapore from 24 to 28 April 2025, drawing thousands of AI researchers, practitioners, and thought leaders to the city-state. Renowned globally as one of the most influential gatherings in the field of machine learning, ICLR is being held in Southeast Asia for the first time, marking a major milestone for the region’s growing prominence in the AI landscape.

Organised by the ICLR Foundation and co-hosted by AI Singapore, this year’s conference will feature cutting-edge research on topics ranging from large language models and generative AI to the safety and ethics of intelligent systems. Past editions of ICLR have spotlighted foundational breakthroughs later adopted by major technology firms and academic institutions, placing this event at the forefront of AI innovation.

Held at Singapore EXPO, the conference will include keynote speeches by pioneers such as Yoshua Bengio, a Turing Award laureate and one of the “godfathers of AI,” alongside workshops, poster presentations, and demonstrations by leading global research groups.

In conjunction with ICLR 2025, Singapore AI Research Week will run parallel across the island, offering a curated series of community-led events, symposiums, and workshops aimed at amplifying the city’s growing AI ecosystem. This includes collaborations between top local universities, government agencies, and private sector leaders in tech.

Singapore’s hosting of ICLR underlines its position as a rising AI hub in Asia, supported by robust R&D infrastructure and forward-looking public policy. According to the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office, the country has invested over S$500 million in national AI strategies since 2019.
