A solemn ceremony was held in Singapore to honour the victims of the 22 April terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, as Singapore reaffirms its stance against terrorism.

Singapore, 1 May 2025 – The High Commission of India in Singapore hosted a poignant remembrance ceremony to honour the victims of the brutal terrorist attack that occurred on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The gathering brought together members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India, who joined in mourning and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

Dr Shilpak N. Ambule, the High Commissioner of India to Singapore, addressed the gathering with a heartfelt message, “As you all are aware, we have gathered here today for the unfortunate incident that happened on 22nd April. It was a terrorist attack, and 26 innocent lives were lost. The manner in which the attack was executed – targeting civilians – is deeply disturbing and unprecedented.”

He further affirmed India’s resolve to pursue justice, stating, “We will not spare any effort to track down the perpetrators. I also urge all of you to avoid falling for misinformation or propaganda. Our team at the High Commission is ready to provide verified information so that the correct message is shared within the community.”

In a formal statement released on 23 April 2025, Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack, “Singapore strongly condemns the terror attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, which have claimed many lives. We stand with India in the fight against terrorism. As of now, we have no information that any Singaporeans were among the casualties. Our High Commission in New Delhi is monitoring the situation closely.”

The event concluded with a moment of silence in memory of the victims, symbolising the unity and shared grief felt by communities across borders in the face of terrorism.
