
Singapore’s semiconductor association invests in leadership development through immersive training initiatives.
SINGAPORE – The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) has commenced its fifth “Leadership in Engineering” programme, a three-day immersive workshop aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities within the semiconductor industry. The programme, held from 6 to 8 May 2025, focuses on developing soft skills and emotional intelligence among high-potential professionals with at least three years of experience in the sector.
Ang Wee Seng, Executive Director of SSIA, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of leadership development in sustaining the industry’s growth. He highlighted the programme’s role in equipping participants with the necessary mindset and tools to navigate the evolving challenges of the semiconductor landscape.
The workshop features sessions led by industry experts, including Yew Kong Tan, Senior Vice President and General Manager at GlobalFoundries Singapore. Tan shared insights on effective leadership practices, differentiating between micro-leadership and micromanagement, and underscored the significance of empathy and purpose-driven leadership in today’s semiconductor environment.
