RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Amazon Web Services (AWS) and HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia’s newly established national AI company, have announced a strategic partnership to develop a $5 billion AI Zone in the Kingdom. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan to diversify its economy and establish itself as a leader in artificial intelligence.

The AI Zone will incorporate AWS’s advanced AI infrastructure, including UltraCluster networks for accelerated AI training and inference, and services such as Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, and Amazon Q. These technologies aim to support the development of generative AI applications across various sectors, including government, healthcare, education, and energy.

HUMAIN plans to leverage AWS technologies to develop AI solutions for its clients and collaborate on creating a unified AI agent marketplace. This marketplace will facilitate the discovery, deployment, and management of AI software, particularly for Saudi government applications. The partnership also focuses on developing Arabic Large Language Models (ALLaM) to cater to regional needs.

“This collaboration to build an AI Zone in Saudi Arabia will enable innovations across all industries using AWS’s advanced AI offerings, and reflects our commitment to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030,” said Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services.

In addition to infrastructure development, AWS has committed to training 100,000 Saudi citizens in cloud computing and generative AI technologies through the Amazon Academy. This includes a dedicated program to train 10,000 Saudi women, promoting gender inclusion in the tech sector.

The AI Zone initiative builds upon AWS’s earlier announcement of a $5.3 billion investment to establish an AWS infrastructure region in Saudi Arabia, expected to be operational by 2026. The new AI Zone represents an additional investment aimed at accelerating AI adoption and innovation in the Kingdom.

HUMAIN, launched in May 2025 under the Public Investment Fund, is central to Saudi Arabia’s strategy to become a global AI leader. The company has also secured partnerships with other tech giants, including Nvidia and AMD, to bolster its AI capabilities. According to PwC, AI is projected to contribute $130 billion to Saudi Arabia’s economy by 2030, accounting for over 40% of the estimated $320 billion AI value in the Middle East.
