Prime Minister Wong will represent Singapore at the 46th ASEAN Summit and related meetings on 26–27 May 2025.

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 26 to 27 May 2025 to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. This marks Malaysia’s first of two ASEAN Chairmanship Summits in 2025 under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”.

The Summit will bring together regional leaders to reaffirm ASEAN’s commitment to deeper integration and community building. Discussions will centre around promoting a free, open, and inclusive regional framework, strengthening ASEAN’s resilience, and enhancing intra-regional trade. Leaders will also focus on leveraging new growth areas such as the digital economy and sustainability to position ASEAN for long-term development.

On 27 May, Prime Minister Wong will also take part in the 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, where leaders will explore ways to further ASEAN’s engagement with external partners.

Prime Minister Wong will be accompanied by Mrs Wong and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. In his absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will serve as Acting Prime Minister on 25 and 26 May, with Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam acting in the role on 27 May.
