Deputy Prime Minister to speak at Nikkei Forum and strengthen bilateral ties ahead of diplomatic milestone.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong is in Tokyo for a working visit from 27 to 29 May 2025. His visit reinforces the longstanding ties between Singapore and Japan, ahead of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.

During the visit, DPM Gan is scheduled to engage with Japanese political and business leaders to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration. A key highlight will be his speech at the 30th Nikkei Forum on the Future of Asia on 29 May. The annual forum, which Singapore has supported since its inception in 1995, serves as a key regional platform for dialogue among Asia-Pacific political, economic, and academic leaders. This year’s theme, “Asia’s Challenge in a Turbulent World”, will address the region’s response to global uncertainties and evolving geopolitical dynamics.

DPM Gan is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, reflecting Singapore’s commitment to enhancing high-level exchanges and promoting regional cooperation.
