Singaporean diplomats and officials honour late Vietnamese leader during national mourning observance.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore held a solemn tribute and condolence ceremony in honour of former Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong, who passed away recently at an advanced age. The tribute coincided with Vietnam’s official two-day national mourning period on 24 and 25 May 2025.

As part of the commemorative proceedings, the Embassy opened a book of condolences for members of the diplomatic community and friends of Vietnam to express their sympathies. Several ambassadors, high commissioners, and representatives from Singapore paid their respects, reflecting the strong ties and mutual respect between Vietnam and Singapore.

President Tran Duc Luong, who served as Head of State from 1997 to 2006, played a vital role in Vietnam’s modern development, leading the nation through key periods of economic transformation and strengthening its engagement with regional partners, including ASEAN. The late president is remembered for his statesmanship and steadfast commitment to Vietnam’s growth and integration on the global stage.
