Singapore Manufacturing Federation to launch nationwide campaign promoting ocean sustainability and community engagement.

The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) is set to launch “The Great Ocean Dash – A SpongeBob SquarePants: Ocean Conservation Movement” on Friday, 6 June 2025. The event will take place at the SMF Seminar Hall, Alexandra TechnoPark, Singapore. This initiative aims to unite corporations, communities, and individuals in a concerted effort towards ocean sustainability.

As the campaign’s Principal Supporting Organisation, SMF will host the exclusive launch event, featuring a campaign preview, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing, and a special appearance by SpongeBob SquarePants. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about upcoming activities, including island-wide beach cleanups and a SpongeBob-themed fun run scheduled for November at Sentosa.

The campaign aligns with global efforts to address ocean pollution, particularly the issue of plastic waste. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, approximately 11 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean annually, posing significant threats to marine life. Initiatives like this play a crucial role in raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices.

SMF’s involvement underscores its commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement. By leveraging popular culture and collaborative efforts, the campaign seeks to inspire actionable change and foster a deeper connection between individuals and the marine environment.
