
Lt Gen Al-Ruwaili inspects military units in Makkah as part of safety operations for Hajj pilgrims.
MAKKAH, 3 June 2025 — In line with directives from the Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the Armed Forces units assigned to support this year’s Hajj operations.
The inspection, underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to ensuring the safety and smooth conduct of the Hajj season. Lieutenant General Al-Ruwaili began his tour at Arafat Airport, where he assessed the readiness of the Air Forces group tasked with surveillance and airspace security over the holy sites.
He later visited the duty force field at Al-Maghmas to review the preparedness of the operational units stationed there. During the visit, he was briefed on the approved organisational and security plans designed to safeguard pilgrims during their journey and rituals.
As part of this extensive operation, the Air Force will provide advanced aerial support, including reconnaissance and surveillance. Meanwhile, the Naval Forces will help secure seaports, monitor maritime activity, and support rescue operations through diving teams and specialised infantry.
On the health front, the Ministry of Defense has activated a medical plan. This includes 36 health centres with more than 1,040 beds, staffed by over 1,790 medical and administrative personnel. Facilities are distributed across hospitals and field clinics situated within the Holy sites.
