Acting Minister Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim highlights the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s role in reflecting Singapore’s growth and national priorities at their recent Annual General Meeting

The Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) held its Annual General Meeting on 28 May 2025. Following the adoption of the previous financial year’s reports and accounts, members gathered for a networking dinner. This year, members were joined by SICCI’s advisor, Acting Minister for Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs, Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim.
Addressing the attendees, Professor Faishal acknowledged Singapore’s upcoming SG60 commemoration, reminding members of the nation’s journey marked by resilience, innovation, and unity. He stated, “SICCI’s journey reflects Singapore’s own evolution, from humble beginnings to a trusted hub of global excellence. Your centennial celebrations last year were not just about honouring the past. They were about setting a powerful vision forward.” This vision encompasses an internationally connected business community, digitally proficient membership, and a sustainability-driven economy balancing prosperity with environmental responsibility.
Professor Faishal emphasised the importance of strong partnerships between government, businesses, and communities for Singapore’s future. He noted that SICCI’s efforts in enhancing SME capabilities, expanding international networks, and promoting sustainability align with national priorities and contribute to economic resilience. He added, “We have a shared agenda, to grow Singapore as a trusted global node of innovation and enterprise, to secure a sustainable future, and to build a Smart Nation powered by resilient, digitally empowered businesses. This is why the government remains committed to supporting chambers like SICCI through Enterprise Singapore initiatives.” He expressed his encouragement for SICCI’s renewed focus on financial prudence, digital leadership, and sustainable growth, which he believes mirrors Singapore’s broader national goals.
Furthermore, Professor Faishal commended the Chamber’s social contributions, including their support for SINDA’s education initiatives, collaborations with groups like Sree Narayana Mission, and their work in nurturing future entrepreneurs through the SICCI Aspiring Entrepreneurs Network. As Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs, he underscored the critical nature of such efforts in fostering a cohesive, resilient, and secure society. As Singapore progresses into its next decade of growth, Professor Faishal urged SICCI to continue leading as a catalyst, connector, and community builder.
