A series of strategic agreements were signed to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors including defence, energy, food security, and green development
SINGAPORE, 16 June 2025 — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, witnessed the signing and announcement of a number of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) at Singapore’s Parliament House on Monday. The agreements marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors such as the economy, energy, defence, food security, and sustainable technology.

Five MoUs were formally exchanged in the presence of the two leaders. These included: the Joint Report to Leaders from six Bilateral Economic Working Groups; an MoU on Food Security and Agricultural Technology Cooperation; an MoU on Sustainable Industrial Development; a Cross-Border Electricity Trade MoU; and an MoU on Carbon Capture and Storage — all signed between respective Indonesian and Singaporean ministries and agencies.
These foundational agreements are expected to serve as key instruments in driving progress in green economy development, enhancing food resilience, and strengthening cross-border energy connectivity.
In addition to the five core MoUs, a number of other agreements were also announced. These include: implementation of the Flight Information Region (FIR) agreement through personnel placement at the Singapore Air Traffic Control Centre (SATCC); implementation of the extradition treaty and a joint update on defence cooperation; a reciprocal halal certification recognition MoU; and financial regulatory cooperation between Bank Indonesia and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Other collaborations involved maritime training, prosecutorial cooperation, library and information management, and the establishment of the Ciputra SMG Curie Cancer Centre. Investment agreements were also announced, such as the Sembcorp solar power plant in Indonesia’s new capital and a joint venture between Sembcorp and Panbil Group to develop two low-carbon industrial zones in Batam. Additional initiatives included youth exchange programmes, a young farmers’ development initiative, and the launch of new Scoot flights between Singapore and Kertajati and Padang.
These wide-ranging agreements reflect the deepening and holistic nature of the Indonesia–Singapore partnership, highlighting both nations’ commitment to sustainable growth, regional stability, and future-oriented cooperation.
